What is SJTU?
Est 1896 as Nan Yang College, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is one of the first national institutions of higher learning in China. The name “Jiao Tong” comes from the book Yi Jing. “Jiao” means unite and “Tong” means harmony.
Then heaven and earth unite in deep harmony, peace and blessing descend upon all living things; when leaders and people unite and combine their influences, the nation enjoys universal flowering and prosperity

Jiao Tong's Minhang District campus, southwest suburb of Shanghai, which hosts most undergraduate student residences, classes, and extracurricular facilities. Living on this huge campus with 30,000+ other students is a unique experience, for its size alone if nothing else.
Jiao Tong does a good job serving its students and faculty in terms of food, recreational facilities, on and off-campus transportation, etc. As an grad student I was happy with how the school would actually take students' opinions seriously and how it implemented them.
